What I was going to address is a bigger issue that brings us face to face with the power of the youth to dictate and influence change at this time when we define our tomorrow, our lives, our homes and everything about us. I want to especially focus on practical social change that should take place among us if we are to cultivate a more meaningful future.
We celebrate the fragile peace and calm that we have this afternoon and the harmony that the Nairobi population enjoy. Since I can not readily put my finger with any measure of authority on who took a lead to usher in a change of the mindset of Nairobians to embrace this peace, I am entitled to suspect that you are part of the change agents that is stealthily transforming the Nairobi into a people who love peaceful co-existence yesteryear teaser that “you are the leaders of tomorrow.”
What leads me to suspect you? And why not? I see you as a small group of youthful leaders whose purpose is to hold hands together to build a Kenya that benefits everybody.
You guys are daring big things and having the guts to dare big things are all it takes to establish a great change. You are tough guys willing to create ideas and invest in them. And remember, creative ideas form the basis of creating wealth for a strong economy. Ideas grow into knowledge and knowledge creates wealth. Knowledge has no price tag, it is a privileged commodity buried in the hearts of all people but few use it. Those who don’t use it remain poor.
The change you are striving to make comes in a small measure because life consists of small things, small people, and small places, small ideas that develop into a big time innovation. You are the small group of people that has come together to invest ideas to influence change.
The change that I see in you is in the making of a new people of God, a re-ignition of the spirit of God that will bring order in a chaotic Nairobi.
NAYNET wants to achieve a challenge whose risks many would not dare. I believe that today, we are part of all that challenge.
